Relaxed Private Lifestyle
Welcome to this amazing executive residence, nestled in the Byron-Ballina hinterland and close to Lismore's University. What is offered is not just a home, but a subtropical sanctuary, surrounded by palms, exotic bamboos, and flowering trees. You will feel the relaxing atmosphere as soon as you enter the property with discrete outdoor areas for relaxing, reading, celebrating or entertaining.
This home offers the best of both worlds: an ideal remote working base with the potential for two generous office/studies; and an inspirational, creative lifestyle surrounded by vibrant nature at her finest, in a private, tranquil setting.
The creatively designed home reflects the artistic lifestyle of its owners who are academic writers and international consultants. The house is intelligently positioned on its large curved, north-facing, corner block, so that the well-appointed living areas and master bedroom capture the afternoon Pacific sea breezes. There are beautiful vistas from every angle within the house, while extensive full length windows allow the outside beauty to flow inside.
Each room has its own special feeling and character, with coloured feature walls in bedrooms, studies and bathrooms designed to cast a glow of positive colour, just like the nearby Pacific Ocean does, to refresh your sense of wellbeing.
The open kitchen is well-equipped for cooking enthusiasts with abundant cupboard space, near-new fridge/freezer, new dishwasher, and new electrical appliances. There is a walk-in pantry to stock up for lockdowns, plenty of glassware, crockery and utensils to cater for intimate dining or larger gatherings, and fresh herbs in pots exploding outside the laundry door.
The family room is a glass walled observatory, to enjoy the palms and birdsong from very comfortable leather armchairs. Several original artworks from Australia and Europe, plus two of the owners' seven libraries will be left in the house for your enjoyment. Feel free to read the great classics, a novel, or explore history in the Arabian desert, or have a tinkle on our 1917 Beale grand piano.
There is a formal dining area, a bright and large breakfast area, barstools for coffee, and a beautiful al fresco entertainment area on the paved North Terrace, with a hammock for relaxing under the palms. Under the leopard tree is a rustic four-seat outdoor working or snacking area, and amongst the bananas is the Everest View sundown seating (named after a famous Himalayan hotel)—perfect for Prosecco as the day's last crimson rays diffuse through the western trees.
The owners have done everything to make tenants feel at home. There are ceiling fans throughout, and the roof cavity is fully insulated. Almost all the furniture, including lounges, cabinets, tables and chairs is new, if it's not antique. There are new sheets, mattress covers and pillows throughout, plus new towels.
The master bedroom - with en-suite and walk-in robe - has a new Queen bed, bedside tables and lighting. A large glass door opens to the paved North Terrace.
The second, or guest, bedroom - the South Wing - has built-in robes and elegant antique furniture. It looks out onto tropical fruit trees, bamboo and native Australian shrubs planted to attract butterflies.
The other two bedrooms (one with built-in robes, one with deep shelving) have been used by the owners as studies for their professional research, but can be easily returned to function as bedrooms, should you wish.
The main bathroom with a separate bath and shower overlooks the citrus orchard. There is a separate toilet, and a laundry that opens to the herb garden.
Film entertainment includes a large screen connected to both blue ray and an original VHS set for movie buffs. The screen can be connected (cables are provided) to an iPhone or laptop to stream movies. NBN is connected to the house with fibre to the node.
To suit a tropical culinary style, there is a young five-species citrus orchard, five species of exotic bananas that will soon fruit, five species of passionfruit covering the eastern fence, two species of Brazilian cherries, tamarillos, lychees, Bowen mangoes and red papayas, all on the verge of fruiting. In the eastern Dawn Garden, there are potted tomatoes and fresh culinary herbs. Help yourselves.
On weekends, you won't need a mower or a Bunnings straw hat. The lawns and tropical gardens will be lovingly maintained by our 'Estate Manager', Michael, a qualified horticulturalist who has engineered most of our new garden layout.
So sit back relax and save your energy for feeding our kookaburra each morning.
While you might think you are living out in the country, the home is conveniently located in an elevated Northerly aspect in a quiet area of the Goonellabah Ridge. On a 10-minute drive to the Lismore CBD, you pass Lismore Base Hospital in one direction, or Southern Cross University in another. Drive East to reach a range of Pacific beaches from 20 minutes away, or drive West or North to explore the mountains of Australia's largest caldera, and the abundant rainforest.
Goonellabah is well placed for connecting with regional, national and international flights. Brisbane CBD is two hours away, with the airport an extra 30 minutes. One hour should get you to the Gold Coast airport. Ballina-Byron Gateway airport is about 20 minutes, while Lismore airport is about 15 minutes.
This home would be perfect for a professional couple wanting to work and relax in serenity and privacy, or explore the whole Northern Rivers region looking for a permanent home to buy or build. It's available for a 3 month or 4 month or 6 month lease with an option to renew.
