Consider yourself a Star Wars tragic? A home to impress even the biggest fan is on sale for $US26.5 million ($A39.2 million). The six-bedroom mansion in Los Angeles’ Hidden Hills has a basement to house a huge collection of Star Wars memorabilia.
You wouldn’t know it was there unless someone told you – but the downstairs entertainment complex-cum-basement is a sprawling tribute to all things in the franchise.
The bar is a re-creation of the patrons and musicians at Chalmun’s Cantina à la Episode IV. The bar trio is just the start of of the 40 life-sized characters that call the 5,000 square-foot basement home – everything from Episode V bounty hunters to Darth Maul himself.
The six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bathroom home also has a model X-wing fighter hanging from the ceiling and an entire array of Stormtrooper helmets in glass cases. The walls are filled with hundreds of collectible action figures.
The collection is estimated to be worth millions in its entirety. Many of the items are now available for purchase, but their prices aren’t included in the home’s $US26.5 million asking. Alas.
Just off from the main basement is a movie theatre, where C-3PO and R2-D2 greet you as you make your way to your seat. Inside the theatre, the tiles lining the walls have been modelled after the Death Star’s surface, while the ceiling has been designed to look like a TIE fighter’s view of the galaxy. Boba Fett, a (frozen) Han Solo and Chewbacca are hanging in the back of the room.
Sure, it’s a lot of real estate that’s been dedicated to one very niche obsession, but the rest of this property doesn’t disappoint. The large outdoor pool comes complete with its own waterfall and slide and flows into a grotto/spa within the home.
There’s also a tennis court and a loggia adjacent! Inside the mansion, you’ll find a fully-equipped gym, a safe room and a 750 gallon (2,830 litre) aquarium.
In other words, if you’re a Star Wars fan with a decent budget, these are the droids you’re looking for. If not, we find your lack of faith disturbing 😉
