Reader question

“I’m renting an apartment in NSW. Because I’m on the lease, am I able to redecorate it at my own expense, or do I need permission?” – Jane

As a renter, can I redecorate the property? We asked Property Manager at Professionals Lithgow, Tina Case, for her advice:

“Hi Jane. You will definitely need to ask your landlord for permission before you do any renovations or make changes at the property,” she said.

“I would recommend that you put this in writing, stating clearly what work you would like to do and asking the landlord to consider your request.”
