Losing the security remote
“I lost the one and only security remote and the agent wants to charge me for a new one (which is fair enough,) but they also want to charge for a company to come out and program it – this will obviously cost a lot. I would have thought a spare should have been on hand anyway, in case the original broke down, etc. To pay for a new one is no problem, but I don’t think it’s fair to be charged for programming. What do you think?”
We asked Property Manager with Harcourts Mandurah, Sam Delaney for her advice on this question.
“Unfortunately as per your lease agreement you would be responsible for the purchase and reprogramming of the remotes lost whilst in your possession,” Sam said.
“I would suggest that on occasions the suppliers are happy to talk purchasers of remotes through the process of re-programming.”
Sam said another option would be to search the remote re-programming instructions on the internet or to gain further quotes to ensure that the costs are competitive.
