There are a number of ways to look for pet-friendly rentals around Australia on Rent.com.au. Here are a few tips to get you started.
Step 1. Visit www.rent.com.au and enter the suburb you want to rent in
It’s a good idea to tick Surrounding suburbs to give you the widest range of properties available and not limit yourself to a specific area. You never know what you might find nearby!
In today’s example, we entered the city ‘Perth’ into Rent.com.au.
It returned this result: https://www.rent.com.au/properties/perth+6000?rent_low=any&rent_high=any&surrounding_suburbs=1
Step 2. Add filters to your search
If you followed the first step and entered a suburb name into the search bar, you’ll have reached the search results page. From here, you can do one of two things:
- Click on the Features drop-down menu and select Pets Allowed. Then click Search again. This will filter the list of properties, removing any rental property listings which were uploaded without the Pets Allowed box ticked. These properties have been uploaded by a landlord or property manager who has specified that pets are allowed in these rentals.
For example: https://www.rent.com.au/properties/perth+6000?rent_low=any&rent_high=any&pets_allowed=1&surrounding_suburbs=1
2. Not all landlords and property managers will specific whether pets are permitted to live in a rental property. As a workaround, many landlords and property managers will consider pets if they are small, well trained and unlikely to cause damage in or around the house. If you find a great property, it’s worth asking the question of the listing landlord or agent, rather than ruling out all property listings which say ‘no pets.’
