Most Australian citizens are issued with an Ordinary passport. To be eligible for this passport type, an applicant must satisfy the identity and citizenship requirements.

A passport is ordinarily worth 70 points in the 100 point check system. You can use it as an authoritative identity document throughout Australia.

If you don’t have it on hand, you may be able to locate your passport document number on previous booking references from flights in your email. How many digits are in a passport number?

The standard Australian passport number is typically eight characters and written in alphanumeric form, meaning it can contain letters and numbers.

If you’re asked to provide your passport number, do not use spaces when you enter it, even if they appear in your actual passport.
