With more Victorians living in rental apartments, the pet lovers among them are beginning to question why landlords won’t let them keep furry friends.

Pet Insurance Australia has released a list of ideal apartment-dwelling dogs and says landlords need to “get real” about pet ownership because rental housing for pet owners is ridiculously limited.

A survey by rent.com.au, which has 70,000 rental properties on its database found only 10 per cent of properties nationally were listed as “pet-friendly”.

And 40 per cent explicitly stated pets were not welcome.
