“If a phone line exists in a property when I move in, but doesn’t work, should that be an issue my agent/the owner will sort out? I thought a telephone line would be a minimum requirement in a rental property in VIC?”

When it comes to the rental phone line…

We asked Operations Manager at Melbourne Property Managers, Sarah Martin for her advice:

“If the phone line doesn’t work, it’s classified as a maintenance issue and is the responsibility of the landlord to rectify,” Sarah said.

“It is, however, important to make sure that it’s not an individual account issue and that your account has been set up correctly.”
