THREE paint brands have today announced their 2017 Colour of the Year. If you’re renovating or planning to repaint your house, look out for the following colour trends to include.
Sherwin-Williams: Poised taupe
“Poised Taupe celebrates everything people love about cool gray as a neutral, and also brings in the warmth of brown, taking a colour to an entirely new level. Not cool or warm, nor gray or brown, Poised Taupe is a weathered, woodsy neutral bringing a sense of coziness and harmony that people are seeking,” says Sue Wadden, director of colour marketing.
Glidden: Byzantine Blue
“It stretches the boundaries of purple to borrow all of best qualities of blue and gray, making it an appealing color choice for nearly any room,” says Misty Yeomans, PPG colour marketing manager, Glidden paint. Paired with dark neutrals, it feels more gray, and with whites, more blue-purple.
A soft violet, Cloudberry is the 2017 pick from Olympic. The hue is meant to create a space for solace from the bustle of the day to day grind. “Home décor trends for 2017 are reflecting society’s urge to find a space apart from constant connectedness, and to create balance by establishing our homes as places to refresh,” said Dee Schlotter, PPG senior color marketing manager, Olympic Paints & Stains brand. “Cloudberry conveys retreat from the pressures of daily life, encouraging meditation and mindfulness, inspiring more focus and less stress.”
