On the Rent.com.au Community’s 1st anniversary, we take a look back at the past year of growing a Facebook group for renters, landlords and agents.

One year ago today, we kickstarted the Rent.com.au Community, a Facebook group for renters, landlords and agents to collaborate, ask questions, and help each other grow.

Since then, we’ve grown to over 2,500 members from across Australia, and with over 40% of those members in the group active every single day. So today, on our 1st anniversary of starting this Facebook group, we’re taking a look back at what we’ve accomplished together.

Growing a Facebook group for Australia’s renting community

At Rent.com.au, our goal is to make renting a truly awesome alternative to home ownership.

But we’re realistic. We know renting can be complicated, tenancy legislation differs in each state, and it’s hard to know where to go for help. That’s the mindset that has helped drive us to create Australia’s most empowered rental community, and it’s the mindset that has guided us in growing the Rent.com.au Community over the past year.

With an average of 60 new posts – from both our admins and our Facebook group members – added to the group every single month, Rent.com.au Community has become a goldmine of knowledge for anyone looking for support with their tenancies or a safe space to ask questions they might not feel comfortable asking their property manager.

Today, our member base is representative of the Australian renting population, with hundreds of renters, property investors, rentvestors, property managers and other business leaders, all willing to share their experience and expertise.

In the past year alone, Rent.com.au Community members have answered questions on everything from what’s acceptable during an inspection, how to break a lease, and how to handle tenancy enquiries during a global pandemic.

As a closed group, we only allow relevant members to join and monitor the group closely to prevent any spam. And while rental property searches are a big part of any rental journey, we’ve done our best to keep rental requests out of the group (and direct them to the Rent.com.au website), ensuring this group is 100% value.

There’s more to come…

This past year has been an incredible experience building a shared group in the Rent.com.au Community, but it’s only the beginning. We have plenty planned for our members in the coming year, including:

  • Live Q&As with our team.
  • Early access to Rent.com.au products and features
  • Giveaways
  • And much more!

We’re always looking for new ways to grow our community, so if you have ideas to help us create an even better Facebook group for renters, landlords and agents, we’d love to hear them! Share a post in the Facebook group to let us know what you’d like us to do next, and we’ll see if we can make it happen.
